I was hoping to blog a lot more often, but alas, I started my blog right before Session really heated up so my life was spiraling out of control for a few weeks. Session ended last Sunday, and now my life is coming to a slow and steady pace; one that I have not experienced for a couple of years and am more than ready for.

This morning started out as the perfect May Day. I woke up to the sun shining into my room, and even as early as it was, I was cheerful about getting out of bed. Work was extremely low key, I had lunch with a friend and was out of the office early.
Nathan and I have switched to an eight to four shift everyday, but since I was off early I had some time to kill. I've been stealing every spare moment I can to read the book "Love Walked In" (excellent book), and I was finally on the last chapter and was dying to read it. I found the perfect park bench with the sun at my back, with two beautifully full cherry blossom trees. There was a slight breeze and as I listened to Diana Krall singing about petals on my ipod, cherry blossom petals swirled like snow flakes all around me - it was like one of those artsy movie scenes. I just stopped reading and enjoyed the moment. I guess I'm a sucker for these things.

I'm looking forward to more of these moments in the next few months as I go into summer time. I'm looking at a long list of books I've been dying to read and haven't had time for like a kid at a candy counter who's finally been told it's time for them to pick what they want...I can't choose what to read first. My problem is I'm the kid that always picks the same candy, every time, even with the hundreds of other choices around her. I'll stick with a safe author, or a genre, or even worse...reread a book I've read so many times that I can almost quote it.

I've set a new goal for myself this time around. Branch out - read something I wouldn't normally choose. If after reading a couple books that don't fit the "typical Cassie books" and I still don't like them, then I can easily go back to what I like with no regrets. I will have tried something new. So...if you know of any excellent books that I should read, now's the time to tell me!
