Merry Christmas!

I'll admit it...November burnt me out from blogging for a bit...or more like 3 1/2 weeks...BUT - I'm back! And what better time to come back and share a little bit than a jolly day like Christmas?

This Christmas season has truly been one of my favorite so far. I think it is entirely because of the little ones in our house that makes Christmas so much fun to celebrate. Kids just emit a constant sense of awe and wonder during the Christmas Season. Every morning since our Christmas tree was put up the first thing Steven does when we get downstairs is flip the switch for the lights and then giggle with glee as he sees them come on. He will then spend the morning going up to the Christmas tree and pointing out all the different ornaments to me - "Pooh!", "Apple", "Bear", "Snowman", "Choo-Choo" - so cute! Bradley loves all the sparkly lights too, but I think especially likes watching his big brother get so excited about everything.

Last night at our candlelight Christmas Eve service, his eyes lit up again as he saw all the candles lit throughout the room in their cups of red and green. He was clapping during the carols we sang and sat quietly during the brief sermon. Bradley was a little angel and slept the whole time.

Nathan and I enjoyed shopping for Steven's presents this year. He is fascinated by just about anything with wheels, and loves to read, so we stuck to those two themes. On Wednesday night we even took Steven down to our local toy store, Wind Up Here, in downtown Olympia to look for that perfect gift. I love that toy store. They have tons of toys set up and ready for kids to play with while parents shop. We watched Steven try out some toys and then snuck to the register with one of them to bring home. Even more exciting than shopping for his gifts, was watching Steven open them last night and this morning. Last year he was really excited about tearing the paper for the sake of tearing the paper. This year he was really excited tearing the paper to find out what was hiding beneath. With each gift as he recognized what it was he would shout it out - "truck!", "book!" or say what was on it - "bear!", "puppy!". So adorable!

I enjoyed shopping for Nathan too - I was able to frame two of the Ford Pinto posters he has been collecting. He outdid himself and surprised me with a brand new sewing machine! I hve such a fantastic hubby!

We have so enjoyed the time with family as we've stayed with Nathan's parents this week and were able to spend the whole day with my family today. Steven has been able to see all his "kunkles" (uncles) and "ninnies" (aunties) as well. Thanks to our wonderful family, our boys were quite spoiled with gifts (and thanks to some uncles, some very noisy ones).

As I had time to reflect on Christmas this morning, and all it means to me, I was a bit in awe of all that I have been given in my life, especially that most important gift - the reason so many celebrate this special day - the gift of Jesus. It has been a very blessed and peaceful Christmas for our family. Wishing all of you a joyous Christmas and a very happy New Year! Blessings!
