Two-Thirds of a Year

Eight months ago Steven Patrick entered our world and I became a mommy. BEST DAY EVER!! The fact that I also get to welcome my favorite season in today makes it a very special day.

I cannot believe how fast these eight months have flown by. The saying "don't blink" is so true - I feel like I could forever be trying to capture all his special moments of learning and changing and not be able to catch up with how fast he is growing!

I am loving each and every day with Steven. He is so entertaining and sweet! He is finding his voice more and more and even though there are no words, his every attitude is very apparent. His expressions crack me up and I even find I get those "you're wierd, mom" looks from him - I thought that wasn't supposed to happen 'till he was a teenager!

He is so close to crawling, but just not there yet. I think his biggest hindrance is that he is just too content sitting and reaching for whatever he wants and doesn't care to necessarily try to get anything out of his reach.

Sleeping is still a struggle for us, but I think we are on our way to better nights. A friend said to me recently that you just really need to be ready to let them cry...I totally wasn't before...now I totally am. My methods may still vary greatly from those of other mommies and daddies that do CIO, but I think what we're doing is finally going to work for us. We'll be throwing a big wrench in things with a camping trip this week, but once we get back I hope we will continue the good trend we've been seeing the last few nights.

Yep, we're camping with a baby. Some of my friends think I'm crazy, some wonder why we haven't done it yet! I'm so excited! We're heading to Potholes state park near Moses Lake with our dear friends Matthew and Taryn. I can't wait for the fresh air, living in sweats and the company of friends round a campfire! Having Steven along will definitely make things interesting, but I think they will be even more fun than usual as well. Praying for the fresh air to knock him out at nighttime. That would be wonderful!

That's my update for now!
