From the shelf...
So I've decided to start reading some of those books Nathan and I have in our collection that haven't been cracked yet (at least by me - although I'd venture to say that since I'm the reader in the family, Nathan hasn't cracked them either). I have a feeling through this process, I will slowly start a collection of books destined for Goodwill.
The first book is one I came across last week while unpacking one of those last few boxes from when we moved almost two years ago. You know, the couple boxes labeled, "misc." packed by a friend who was helping you move who didn't know where those things should go so into the box they went...the boxes that move from the empty spare room to a hall closet to the garage. Yeah, that's right...and I feel guilty for letting stuff sit that long (that whole idea that if you can keep it that long and not need it then why do you have it?).
Well, the book I found is "The Preacher and the Presidents - Billy Graham in the White House" by Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy. I think someone bought it as a gift for Nathan a few years ago. It basically covers the relationships between Billy Graham and 11 U.S. presidents from Harry Truman all the way to George W. Bush. Being a sucker for history and intrigued by the impact a world renowned evangelist could have on the leaders of the free world, I started reading. I'm only a few chapters in, just at the point where Graham meets Eisenhower, but I am enjoying it immensely.
We will see how long it takes me to finish this book with my current babysitting gig, but I'd like to finish it and at least 3 others off our shelf this year. What books are collecting dust on your shelves? Might be time to revisit them!

I really like the idea of completing some books that have ben on the long time "to read" list. I think I'll go check my shelf when I get home. :) thanks for the idea!
