I'm Published!

Well, it isn't anything that big or exciting, but my letter to the editor was published on Sunday in the Olympian. I wrote in on the topic from this post. I had given up hope that it would be published since I wrote it almost a month ago, but it was!

Here's the letter. If you feel like commenting, please do so! All comments in response to my letter are quite the opposite of my feelings and most personal attacks...which is to be expected...most of the liberals I've met are very opened minded until you disagree with them...(that isn't to say I don't have liberal friends, those are the ones who respect my differences and I theirs...).

Anyways...it has rekindled the passion for following the issue...so here is a quick update:

The House version of the bill (HB 1366) is expected to pass the House (it was passed out of the House Health & Wellness Committee on Feb. 10th). We are hoping to see it stopped in the Senate. Some good news...over 500 people were in attendance at the hearing in the House Health & Wellness Committee...so many that the committee room was filled, an overflow committee room was filled, people stood in the halls, and both galleries in the House and Senate Chambers in the Legislative building were full...all in opposition. If you wish to watch the House hearing, (specifically note the testimonies of John Panesko and Avante Jackson), you can see it here. The Senate version (SB 5274) was heard in the Health & Long Term Care Committee on Feb. 2nd. You can see that hearing here. While the turnout was not as large as the House hearing on the legislation (this hearing was at 8am as opposed to 1pm), the room was still packed with those in opposition. Particular comments to note in that hearing are the points Senator Pflug brings up. She is brilliant!

I am sure there is more I could update you on, but that is all I can remember and find in my few minutes sitting here while the one-year-olds happily play....

Till next time!
