30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Days 3-6
And just like that my 4 little boys and the busy they add to my days (and the fatigue - oh the fatigue!) and I am 4 days behind in my daily thankfulness posts. I don't know that I've ever missed that many days!
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1
Day 3 ~ Thursday began with our routine of getting up early and out the door to our Classical Conversations homeschool community. Our hang up this last week was that Nathan was out of town. Oh, and Wesley decided it was a good night to party all night and not sleep. And then sleep in (which meant I over slept). So that whole getting up early and out the door...now quite. I treated myself to a coffee at the drive thru and got all of two sips from it at school before one of my beautiful children knocked the entire thing onto the carpet of the classroom. This sleep deprived, hormonal momma was nearly in tears and just trying to keep it together after that.
Oh am I thankful for His steadfast love! My heart and my mind were so frustrated and angry over something so trivial, looking desperately for someone to blame. Yet, His steadfast love broke through to lift me out of it and carry me through the rest of the day. Even though the thoughts running through my head after my coffee spilled or the kids started bickering or all the other things that kept happening proved I didn't deserve it - it was there. Pulling me back. Reminding me what was important and that His love is always there for me.
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1-2
Day 4 ~ Friday found us at Wesley's 2 month well-child visit. I have a healthy and growing little boy who is ahead of the curve in most ways, but especially in height - I think I have a tall boy in my future. To think that God created my body to be the sole sustenance my baby needs - what a wonderful thing indeed! I am thankful that even though it hasn't been easy for me, that I have been able to breastfeed all my babies, and that God has been good to help me find the help for the not easy times.
I love you, O Lord, my strength. psalm 18:1
Day 5 ~ Saturday was a long day for many reasons, some good some not so good. One of them included a stalled car battery after I mistakenly left the lights on in my friend's car I was driving us in. But the highlight of my day was attending the fundraiser dinner for my friend who is an area director for Young Life. Wow. To hear the testimonies of some of the youth and her own in building relationship that points these kids to Jesus -just wow. If I asked my friend how she does it, how she is able to be there for these youth from such broken backgrounds day in and day out, she would not hesitate to say where her strength comes from. I want to be as reliant on Jesus's strengtha as she is. I'm thankful He grows us in that.
Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord, who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God! Praise the Lord, for te Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!
Day 6 - How good it is to gather with my brothers and sisters in Christ on a Sunday morning and celebrate our God. To worship His name and to find it pleasant! And when we are reminded in that time our value and worth in His eyes through His people and through the power of the Holy Spirit it is all the more easy to sing songs of praise to Him.
