Thirty Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 3 ~ Faihfulness

Daily I break promises made. Daily I lack follow through on something I said I would do. Daily I struggle with selfishness and so ignore vows made to honor and cherish my spouse. Daily I neglect the charge to train up my children in the ways of the Lord. More often than not these daily failings in faithfulness are completely unintentional - a result of sinful nature and human weakness. And more than anything they serve as a stark contrast to the faithfulness of God.

In the book The Attributes of God, A.W. Tozer says of God, "He will remain faithful because He cannot change. He is perfectly faithful, because God is never partly anything. God is perfectly all that He is and never partly what He is. You can be sure that God will always be faithful." Even on my best days, where I remember every promise, I am faithful to every marriage vow, and teach my children to chase after Jesus, I am still only capable of being partly faithful. There is no guarantee that the next day I can get up and be 100% faithful, or even more, that I won't end that faithful day with some other act that proves my lack of faithfulness.

What comfort and peace we can find when we rest in God's faithfulness! On my worst days, He is still and always will be faithful! "If we are faithless, he remains faithful" 2 Tim 2:13

In what ways has God demonstrated His faithfulness to you today?
