30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 5 & 6 ~ Grace & Mercy
For all my desire to focus on the grand picture of who God is, the last two days it was hard not to break away from all the little bits of chaos in my life. My little Wesley was up a good part of last night and is proving to be headed that direction again tonight. Croup. Add on the homeschooling, the home renovation projects (and the necessity to move out of our home for the week because of them) and the last thing I can seem to think of before hitting the hay is the dear old blog.
As I drove around with Wesley tonight trying to get him calm enough to sleep and tossing around whether I should bring him to the ER or not, I couldn't help but think of how God as grace and God as mercy fit into this everyday life I'm living. God's grace - the unearned gift, lavished out on an unworthy me. God's mercy - all that I do deserve held back by Him, not to be born by me, but by the striped scars of His own Son.
Each moment of each day reveals some aspect of Grace and Mercy. When I wake up to four beautiful boys pining for my attention and a husband there to care for me (even if he has forgotten to buy coffee beans all week) - Grace. When I speak harshly out of anger to my son and instead of walking away he snuggles in and puts his arms around me - Mercy! Grace!
Taking that further step back I can again see the immense amount of grace and mercy on display for me in each day - whether it goes noticed or not.
