30 Days of Thankfulness ~ F & G are for Flowers and Gardens
For the first time in our married life Nathan and I have a home with a large yard and sunlight and rich soil. We took full advantage of it this spring and Nathan took many trips to the nursery for ideas, seeds and starts, fertilizers and stakes. He does nothing half way.
First came flowers - deep beneath the soil went bulbs for Dahlias and sitting small atop the soil were young peony plants. Sunflowers seeds went along the fence and Gerbera daisies, Lavender and Fuschias filled the ipots on the porch. All summer long I enjoyed the beautiful bouquets that came from my very own yard. So much beauty.
Then came our very first real garden. We had grown some lettuces and tomatoes in the past, but we never had enough space or sunlight for anything else. Now we had two spacious raised beds plus a large bed for our squash. I loved watching my boys watch their seeds grow into little starts and then plant them in the garden with their dad. Excited boys pulled their first carrot out of the ground or had their first bunch of sweet peas off the vine - their first little harvest.
What I was reminded through both of these is the beauty that comes through growth, and how long it can sometimes take. Thank you, Lord for the beauty of flowers, and the bounty of a garden to remind us that you aren't done growing us into beautiful reflections of you.
