30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Days 28 & 29

Day 28

Wednesdays are busy days for us.They start with BSF and are usually filled up with other things to do until bedtime. Yesterday was no exception. Still, it was a day full of good things - including a wonderful 3 hour nap from my boys. I was not expecting that and so was very thankful for it when it happened.

What I thought of yesterday in thinking about what I was thankful for had to do with BSF. I am so thankful for specifically the discussion group forum that it offers. This year we are doing things a bit differently and instead of having people in groups based on their phase of life (young mothers, seniors, moms of school kids, etc), we have a bit of everybody in each group. I have come to truly cherish some of the older woman in my discussion group each Wednesday. They have shown me how much I still have to learn on my journey of faith, but also that once I reach their age I will still have so much to learn (which is a good thing!). Often I find one of them talking about going through a similar spiritual struggle as me only with a different outward appearance from mine. They are so encouraging and warm to the younger ladies in the group even though there is so little in common they share with us now. I am thankful for these ladies who are pillars of faith and are examples of growing in Christ and learning new things through His Spirit even at age 60, 70 & 80. I hope I can be an encouragement to younger generations when I am their age.

Day 29

We spent the day at home today. We haven't had a day just home in a while. It felt nice. I enjoyed doing things at a slower pace, not rushing from one thing to another or trying to squeeze tasks needing done around the house in between outings. I am so blessed to be able to have these days home. My busy days rushing to and fro are my choice for the most part. Sure there's the have to outings of grocery shopping, and similar errands, but the majority of my rushing is going to play dates, to the library, to parks, to the mall...all things that are pretty darn fun.

I'm thankful that God has seen fit to provide for our family in a way that I can stay home. It isn't always easy financially to have me home, but the rewards of my being here far out weigh the extra money we could be spending on things that don't really matter all that much. By my not working away from home I'm enjoying spontaneous snuggle time with my boys, fits of laughter over funny animal noises Bradley is figuring out how to make, kissing boo-boos as soon as they've happened, teaching countless little life lessons during the day, and even an occasional nap after singing someone (and apparently myself) to sleep.

It's days like today, although filled with doing laundry, changing diapers, looking like I just rolled out of bed (which is almost true) and endless dishes, that I'm reminded of how much I am blessed and all that I have to be thankful for. Staying home as a wife & mommy was my dream and I am thankful to be living it!
