30 Days of Thankfulness - Day 2
Well, 20 minutes before the midnight hour I am finally getting down my thanksgiving...sigh...it's been a long day!
It has been a long day because it is election day. You wait all day, getting a few more political calls during the wait reminding you to vote (voted 2 weeks ago!), and then finally eight o'clock rolls around and you can start watching the results roll in...except they don't roll in. They trickle in. So, here I am 11:40 at night, I could have been sleeping the last two hours, but I was glued to my computer screen in hopes I would see a dramatic result declare a winner and I could go to bed. Alas...I must wait until morning...or Friday. All this to say, I am thankful today was election day - that I got the opportunity to perfom my duty as a citizen of this great nation and vote for my representation. I am thankful for the bowl of ice cream I celebrated this election day with. I am thankful that this election day is almost over, as it means my husband will once again be able to enjoy evenings with his family doing something other than walking lists, volunteer calls and map making.
Tonight I completed my first sewing project (unassisted), and while it was nothing fancy - just two covers for Steven's changing table pad - I am quite proud of myself. So, I am thankful for my sewing machine and thankful to my mother-in-law, Anna, for letting me borrow it, and showing me how to operate the thing. I certainly haven't mastered the skill, but I mastered the fear (and am now wondering what I was so stinkin' afraid of).

That is so great! I took a "beginners" sewing class in the summer, and seriously I left in tears. The project was a skirt with a zipper. Zipper does not equal beginner. Good for you for jumping in and sewing up a storm!
