30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Days 22 & 23

Yep. Four days behind. It was bound to happen, right? We were very busy with lots of things this weekend so I never made it in time to do a blog before bed and the "need to add that day" kept happening. So here I am.

Friday the boys and I spent the day cleaning and doing laundry and getting ready to drive to Papa & Grandma's house that evening after dinner. Nathan's parents were watching the boys for the weekend so Nathan and I could get some time to ourselves and so we could lead the worship for our Sunday morning's 2 services without having 2 kids to stretch that amount of time.

I'm thankful for my in-laws. Bryan and Anna are amazing. I couldn't ask for a more supportive and caring family to marry into. Watching them be grandparents to the boys has been such a joy as well. My in-laws are incredibly generous in every area of their lives. We've reaped the benefits of this generosity in so many ways throughout our married life, from living next door to them and lots of free meals to go with, to help setting up our first purchased home, and always having a place to stay when we visit whether it is convenient for them or not. Most lately we have experienced their generosity in their time given and prayers for us. They have given of their time even with all they have going on in their lives to readily give us breaks from the boys or put them to bed when we're up visiting them just so we can get out for a little bit or see friends without kids we haven't seen in a while. They are both quick to pray whenever we ask (and even when we don't we know they are praying for us), and rejoice with us when they see answers to prayer. Nathan's family has a rich history and long line of people who have been devoted to the Lord and served Him. I'm so glad my boys have this heritage behind them to grow and glean from.

And on the note of this special time they gave us this weekend from our boys, I am thankful for dates. Time dedicated specifically to spending time with my husband. We didn't do anything all that glamorous on Saturday (and I think the Ikea trip I threw in was probably torture for Nathan - but he endured), but it was a fun, relaxing day. I was so refreshed after it. The most important take away from our date day was how important it is to have dates on a regular basis. It is hard to do with small kids, and at this point in our lives I feel like if we get a date alone once a month or even ever other month we are doing great, but I'd like to see that increase. I'm married to an incredible guy and the more time I get to spend with him alone to remind me apart from the sometimes mundane parts of our life why I married him the better.

So that was Friday and Saturday...stay tuned for yesterday and today!
