30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 11
Today we celebrated Veterans' Day. For many of us it meant a day off from work or school, but for many of our veterans, the people we are honoring, it was just another work day, doing what they do for us.
I am so thankful and grateful for the men and women who have made the choice to fight for our country. They serve in conditions some of us can't even imagine, on little sleep and under high pressure. They serve away from their loved ones. For us. They miss the school play, the soccer game, the holiday, and even the birth of a child, fighting for our freedom. They put their lives on the line and they put their hearts on the line, for us.
I am so thankful for the families of these brave men and women who have sacrificied time with their loved ones that most of us take for granted. For many of these families, serving our country means moving from place to place, in the states, or overseas, never anywhere long enough to say, "this is home". And they do it for us.
I am proud to have brave men in my family who chose to serve our country. My dad, Patrick Brake; my grandpa, Ralph Brake; my uncle, Michael Brake; my uncle, Joseph LeGarde; my husband's late grandpa, Russell Johnson - hearts of gold all of you and truly men to be honored and thanked with great applause today!
To all other veterans both past & present - thank you for your service and for keeping our great nation free!
