30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 16

Tonight I began reading The Boxcar Children aloud to my boys. The last
chapter books we did together were the Winnie the Pooh books, and
while they liked them, I think the writing style was a bit difficult
for their first read aloud. We still loved the time spent snuggled
together and reading though and the boys couldn't wait to do that
again.

The last time I was at my moms I picked up this copy of the book, the
same one she read aloud to me. The pages are yellow and brittle. The binding is fragile and looks like it may break if you open it too far. It has that "old book smell". I love it.
My boys loved it too. I read three chapters to them and they still wanted me to keep going!

I am so thankful for this time to develop their love of reading. I love watching their imaginations soar as they discover the joy it is to travel through time and faraway lands in the pages of a book. I hope their love for books continues to grow and I look forward to re-reading some of my favorites to them in coming years.

What is your favorite children's book?
