30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 18

After a very rough night of sleep in our house (for whatever reason Steven decided 4:30 was a terrific wake up time), I loaded the boys in the car and we took off for a day at Grandma's house. The last few months have been busy for my parents, so while I feel like we've seen them often enough, there has been little time to actually relax and visit with them in the midst of everything else going on. I've been missing "girl time" with my mom and Steven desperately needed a hair cut so a day at Grandma's was in order.

I love my mom.

My mom is my favorite person to eat cupcakes and drink tea with. I don't often pick up a book without wondering if my mom would read it, or if she already has (so many of the books I've read of late have been from her). She gave me my love for books and that love is now being passed on to my boys. She is the first person I call when I have a cooking question and I still don't believe and maybe never will that she didn't know how to boil potatoes when she first got married. She has a way with singing random things in opera style that is already being exhibited by me to my boys.

But that just gets me started...

She is my role model. She is my logic when I am too reliant on my emotions. She is my encouragement on the days I feel like a failure - and she can sense my need for that encouragement even when I've not said a word. She is my confidant and often times my accountability. She was a constant source of quiet comfort when I had my boys. She has shown me so much about the way a wife prays for her husband, and a mother prays for her children. She has a strong faith and has shown me in word and action how to trust in God's faithfulness.

She is my best friend and I can't imagine my world without her. I am so thankful for her every single day.

I love you, Mom!
