30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 1
Well, another year has come and gone with very few blog posts in
between. I have been busy living life, constantly learning the roles
of daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend and mentor, and loving the
journey. So, for this stage of my life the only love my blog may
receive is in the month of November, when I record the things I am
thankful for over 30 days. And maybe I'll surprise myself yet and
stick with blogging after these 30 days are up...but I'm not holding
my breath.
And so begins this 30 days of thankfulness - 2014 - what a year it has
been so far.
Each day has had many an up and down and I am one who rides the
moments, wearing every emotion on my sleeve, constantly switching from
one thought to the next and really just a mess of inconsistency,
failing of good intentions and promises, and probably on the brink of
madness some days. I highlight that about myself to contrast something
I am so thankful for - being in relationship with someone who is
opposite of what I am, and everything I want to be. Someone who is
always consistent...to the point that He never changes. Someone who
cannot fail. Someone who has good plans and promises for me, and
always follows through on them. Better yet, when I fail Him, He
forgives me. When I fall short, He shows up and saves the day, when I
break promises to Him, He doesn't walk away, but pursues me more, to
show me my promises don't matter in light of His. And when I feel on
the brink of madness, out of control and beyond frustrated, His peace
surrounds me and His love enfolds me and His joy delights me and I am
once again renewed.
That, my friends, is something to be thankful for.
Now for some truth to reflect on -
~The LORD appeared to him from far away. "I have loved you with an
everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."
- Jeremiah 31:3 ESV
~ "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
- Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
~ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. - Hebrews
13:8 ESV
~ The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he
will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he
will exult over you with loud singing. - Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
~ But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8 ESV
~ If we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny
himself. - 2 Timothy 2:13 ESV
~ "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to
you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your
heart." - Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV
~ And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:7 ESV
~ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is
made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly
of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2
Corinthians 12:9 ESV
~The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he
helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. -
Psalm 28:7 NIV
One last bitty thing I am thankful for today-I got to meet this little
sweetheart, one week and one day old, precious Eisley.
