30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 3

It is cold, and rainy, it is that season. The season all mothers dread as we see summer finally completely disappear, the days grow shorter and we are confined...indoors. The germs begin to multiply at a rapid rate and you are in a constant state of anticipation of when the dreaded but certain first cold virus will hit all who reside in your cozy little home and make life pretty darn miserable for a while.

Well, I can't say we are all miserable. Or even that we all have a cold yet. My sweet William definitely had it, I even wonder if he was enduring a minor ear infection he was so fussy, but he has seemed to turn a corner today. Steven and Bradley have got the "stuffies" as they call it, and while it hasn't slowed them down any, the amount of whining I hear has increased. I feel like I am keeping it at bay. As is usually the case it will probably hit me as soon as all the children are back to their full energy and have succeeded at wearing me out.

This certainly hasn't been a thankful post, now has it? Rather a grumbling one if I do say so myself. But oh how little I truly have to complain about. This is a cold...a measly, minor cold. I can be thankful that my kids have immune systems that can fight these colds on their own, as I know a number of parents who fear a trip to the hospital should their child get a cold. I am thankful that I have access to medication and healthcare with a quick trip to the store or picking up my phone, or for that matter, checking the old google for whatever may be ailing a member of my family at any given time. And I am thankful, that even in minor sickness, the Lord reveals himself and His grace to me, When I am at the end of what I can physically and mentally handle with sick kids (3 am last night all 3 wailing, the older two begging for tissues and water while I'm trying to calm the baby...I wanted to join the crying!), He supplies my need. I didn't get much sleep, but I woke up rested, and I know that the rest I experienced was heaven sent.

Now to try and get some more rest to fight off my turn with the cold...
