30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 2

My Good Apples

Cars, trains, airplanes, dinosaurs, lions (and roaring like them) footballs, dirt, fixing things, breaking things to fix them - some of the craziness of life with little boys. Cuddles & snuggles, "Mommy, I love you [-- this much --] !", reading stories, coloring, sloppy and sweet kisses, a heavy sleepy head on a shoulder - some of the sweet moments of life with little boys.

"Here ya go, mom!"
I am so incredibly thankful for my two little boys, and so thankful that God blessed me with them. Steven and Bradley bring so much joy to each and every day. Even on the long, exhausting days, I go to bed knowing that I have the best job in the world and the most rewarding one to boot. They show me every day my successes and failures as they mirror who I am. Seeing this reflection has driven me more and more into the arms of my Savior for the grace, patience, wisdom, and endurance to be a better mom.

Being a mom to infants had it own challenges for sure - physical exhaustion, sleep deprivation (and some of that it still true) - but the new mental and emotional strain of teaching and living by example what you want to see in your child; that is a challenge. I want to see my little boys become strong godly men. Men who know how to apologize and seek forgiveness for their actions that hurt others. Men who can show love and kindness, and compassion not only to the people they know & like, but to strangers and those not as easy to love as well. Men who see the potential for God to move in any situation and act with boldness, courage, and hope.

I can't make my boys into these men, no matter how hard I try, no matter how perfect a life I live in front of them. But God can. And so, I will live my life in pursuit of becoming more like my Savior, strive to be humble before my kids with my mistakes, and hopefully, in everything I do, point them to the One who can make them into strong, godly men. He is faithful, and He has given me everything I could ever need to be the best parent I can be - for that I am extremely thankful.
