30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 17
The wind was whipping outside today and at one point the rain was
hitting the panes of my windows sideways. The lights flickered
numerous times and I thought for sure we were going to lose power. I
could hear my boys saying over and over "The power! The power!"
whenever the room would darken where they were playing Legos, and then
the scampering of feet in the hall as they came to tell me the power
was "flashing off!"
For all the close calls, we thankfully never lost power for more than
a few seconds. Good thing too as I had a humongous crock-pot or
spaghetti sauce bubbling away for our small group to eat for dinner.
We had 10 kids 5 & under and 10 adults gather in our home this
evening. I'll let you imagine what dinner looked and sounded like.
Even with the sheer chaos that ensued, it was a wonderful time filled
with laughter. We had the smart idea to hire a babysitter for the
evening to watch the kids upstairs so the adults could have an actual
conversation together downstairs. The peace...the quiet...heavenly!
Our group has only been gathering for a couple of months, but already
close bonds are forming. I am so thankful for these families who want
to do life alongside us as we live out the gospel in our homes and
neighborhoods. I am thankful for hearts willing to seek the Father in
unity and love for one another. What a blessing!
