30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 16
We have enjoyed a fabulous day with my brother Kenny and his beautiful wife Alyssa today. If I could have hand picked Alyssa for Kenny I would have - she is perfect for Kenny, and our crazy family! I don't know how she puts up with us and our antics...it isn't like we are cute or anything. But then, my boys are cute, so maybe that's it!
They drove down this morning with the sole purpose of spending time with us. Well, and for Kenny to fulfill his long ago promise to help us paint in our house. Since we took care of the family room, the stairs and repainting the living room all without his help, I saved the best room for last - the master bathroom. He did have Nathan's help, but with 10 corners to cut in and a shower, tub and tiny closet of a toilet area to work around, it took them most of the day. I'm really glad he did it, since I had to have it done before baby came and there are certain rules about pregnant women, ladders and paint that shouldn't be broken.
While the guys worked on that, Alyssa and I took the boys to the local children's museum for the morning. We had so much fun! Alyssa was the favorite and Bradley hardly left her side the whole time we were there. The boys regularly go to the museum with Daddy and they thought it was pretty special to get to show Auntie all their favorite spots.
We were tuckered out after that fun morning, and so were the boys, but somehow the 15 minute drive home was enough for Steven and he didn't nap once we were back. We ended up having hot cocoa (an americano for me) and snacks with Auntie. Then the guys were done and movie watching, reading books and a game of hide and seek began.
Once the boys were in bed, the grownups sat around for a nice, mostly friendly game of Settlers of Catan. I won (just thought I'd drop that in there). It was such a relaxing evening and I'm looking forward to a relaxed morning with them tomorrow with a fun breakfast, church and the Seahawks game.
I am so thankful for Kenny and Alyssa, and the time they took to spend with our family. My boys are forming such a sweet relationship with their auntie & uncle. I so enjoy having a sister, finally, that I can talk girly things with and enjoy conversation about books, movies, hobbies and other interests as well . I'm thankful for this sweet day.
