30 Days of Thankfulness - Day 2

Vancouver, BC gave us a whirlwind day in rainy, stormy weather. Unlike
Seattle, everyone there uses umbrellas when it rains, Seattleites like
to dart & dodge I guess. I felt very unprepared for rain with the
amount of outdoor walking we did without an umbrella, but we managed
to stay somewhat dry with my umbrella envy growing all day long.

We drove to Vancouver yesterday so Nathan could present briefly this
morning at a conference for work. It was the perfect excuse for a mini
getaway for the two of us before the baby comes. We stayed at a
beautiful hotel that overlooked the water. I loved having time alone
to talk on our way up and relax together today and have our own time
schedule instead of focusing on kids' naps and mealtimes.

So, in reflection on this nice time together, I am so thankful for my
husband. He is my best friend, my lover, my champion, my hard truth at
times, and my partner in parenting our wildly exhausting, yet sweet
little boys. I cherish these times away with him. Time to reconnect,
enjoy our mutual interests together, and just...be. It's easy to lose
that time in the chaos that comes our ways most days. Having time
today with Nathan just reaffirmed to me how much and why I am so in
love with this man.

We loved our brief time in Vancouver. There is already a long list of
places to visit and try for the next time we go. I also plan to have a
very cute umbrella along on our next visit...just in case. Now to
figure out when that will be!
