30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Day 6

I just got done watching the CMA's. Guilty pleasure? Apparently I fell
asleep and missed Miranda Lambert winning female artist of the year,
amongst other important things - but hey, I'm pregnant and this mommy
can only stay up so long!

Country music isn't really my favorite genre, I think of it more as my
summertime mix and what gets me geared up for running (but then Pink
and Lady Gaga do the same thing). This time of year especially, I can
be found in the afternoon during nap time for the boys with a cup of
tea in hand and the classical music station or the local jazz station
(NOT smooth jazz) on the radio. Something about the changing seasons
and going into autumn and routine and eventually the holiday
festivities finds me relaxed most listening to these genres. Perhaps
it is because autumn brings the school year and my memories of school
are struggling through Algebra listening to Mozart or Duke Ellington
(apparently music is supposed to help you study math because of the
counting in the rhythm?). To this day when I hear Duke's Mood Indigo I
think of working though algebra, and that was the only part of algebra
I remember. I'm obviously not the math buff in the family.

I'm thankful for music. I'm thankful for the joy it brings my life.
I'm thankful that so many special moments in my life can be connected
to music. From the song Nathan wrote for our wedding day, to the song
I was convinced calmed Steven down in the car when he was upset as a
baby, to the music I worship to, to the music I cry to, to the music I
tune the world out in a hot bath to - music has the amazing power to
cement a memory in the mind forever.

What are some of your most special music memories?
