30 Days of Thankfulness ~ Days 24 & 25

On to blog post catch up from the weekend, round #2.

Sunday morning Nathan and I had the privilege of leading worship at our church. This is something we've been able to do a lot together the last year and I didn't realize how much I missed ministering with my husband in this way. We used to do this every single week when we were first married, and I'm pretty sure I took it for granted back then. There is a new level of unity within your relationship to be found when you are able to minister alongside your spouse, probably regardless of the ministry, but for us it happens to be when we lead people into worship. I'll be needing to take a break from this ministry again once baby boy comes (sometime in the next 6 weeks!!!), but I am so thankful for the last year of being able to serve with Nathan a few times a month in something we both love to do.

This morning was my regular BSF leaders training that we have every Monday morning. I am so encouraged weekly by what I learn from the other leaders and through our training times together. Today we were reviewing this week's lesson on costly discipleship in following Jesus and I was challenged to look at my heart and my relationships. Who do I put first, truly? In Matthew 10, Jesus talked about hating our father, mother, spouse, & children to love Him. That's a strong picture. Obviously, we aren't to hate our family, but in comparison to our love for Jesus and devotion to him, that is how great the difference should be. If Jesus is truly the first and foremost relationship in my life, than my other relationships should reflect that and glean from that. I shouldn't be ruled by my earthly relationships, but by the only relationship that truly matters, the one with my Savior, Jesus Christ.
I'm thankful today for the opportunity to be in the Word of God on a regular basis, and that Jesus still speaks through the Holy Spirit in new ways to my heart to challenge, convict and grow me to be more like Him. I'm thankful that I have a relationship with Jesus, that I have hope, life and freedom in Him. I'm thankful that He is reminding me that compared to Him, all else fades away...

Nathan and I led this song at church yesterday morning, and I'll leave you with it...

I will sing, sing, sing to my God my King
For all else fades away
I will love, love, love with this heart You made
For You've been good always!
